Super Icky.

A major Christmas pet peeve:

The song "Santa, Baby."

Worse? Little girls singing "Santa, Baby."

STOP IT.

I feel better now.

It is yucky, huh? Gives me the shivers.

Totally with you on this one. I don't mind occasionally listening to Eartha Kitt sing it - for old times' sake - but yes, having kids sing it? Double yuck.

And when are we going to admit that "Baby, it's cold outside" is a date-rape / stalker song?

I'm in a mood today, I can tell already.

Heck, yes!!!

A few years ago, at a WARD CHRISTMAS PARTY, they had all the YW do a dance and lip sync to it. I about died at how inappropriate it was, but aside from my husband, no one else seemed bothered by it.

I was so glad that MY daughter wasn't a YW yet.

Santa Baby was on an old Christmas record my parents played every year, and I loved it. So I still love it. The Eartha Kitt version, that is. I have yet to hear any other version I've liked. And little girls singing is simply out of the question.

I'm with DeNae about "Baby, It's Cold Outside," too. Total date rape song.

I (heart) Eartha's version. And really? I think it's a funny song. But.

If the song about the shoes starts playing, I throw things.

Ditto the Drummer Boy. I mean, really? Who writes songs with lyrics like "Rum-pa-pum-pum" over, and over, and over and over and overandoverandover again? Ack.

I always think of Marilyn Monroe when I hear that song.

I'm with Kristina. For the longest time I thought Eartha Kitt's voice was Marilyn Monroe's.

My most hated songs are "Last Christmas" and the ?Bing Crosby? version of "Do You Hear What I Hear?" {shiver} Just thinking about it gives me the creeps.

I totally agree.

I love that song, but I hate the Madonna version--makes me want to rip my hair out! I also love 'Baby its cold outside' I just think its so cute. The worst Christmas song to me is "Christmas Shoes" oh how I hate that stupid song.

I agree.

And isn't it fun to see a unified expression of Christmas hate and rage? :)

I don't completely hate the song, but I do hate it when kids sing it. Seriously gross. And wrong.

I heartily agree. That is just WRONG.

And I'm sure Mrs. Clause seriously disapproves.

But, but...I've been an awful good girl!

LMAO! I actually love the Madonna version-- I remember hearing it in high school! I don't want my daughter dinging it though!

I ditto your gripe with little girls singing that song. I also have always found "Baby, It's Cold Outside" decidedly disturbing.
We were out in public when "The Christmas Shoes" song came on. A lady nearby said "Oh I love this song." My seven year old promptly told her, "My mom says it is intentionally emotionally manipulative and the person who wrote the lyrics should be boiled in tar." Ahem. Not that she was quoting me directly or anything.

Okay, I actually have a Christmas Carol hate list, but Santa Baby isn't on it. I'm still not sure why I like it, but I do. But I don't want my kids to sing it ever.

However, "Baby it's Cold Outside"--maybe not date-rape, but definitely not the kind of message I want to be sending to my kids.
